Cheng studied and qualified at Leeds Dental School in 2010 before moving to Beverley. After a foundation year working as a general dentist, he trained with the Maxillofacial and Oral surgery department at Hull Royal Infirmary for a year to further improve his surgical skills. He has worked in general practice ever since, working in private practise since 2013.  His interests within dentistry is restorative dentistry, smile design and cosmetic dentistry, and implant dentistry. He is a huge proponent of digital technology in dentistry and has lead the development in transforming the practice into a cutting edge, fully digital practice. Cheng is experienced in CADCAM smile design and manufacture, and is the technical lead for the practice; he will happily geek out on digital milling and 3D printing!

Cheng has done extensive cosmetic training with anterior composite bonding courses by experts Jason Smithson and Gurvinder Birth, implant training at the BAIRD Implant Academy, crown lengthening and gum surgery training with specialist Ian Dunn and undertaken CEREC CADCAM courses with James Klim. He has also recently done advanced denture training with specialist prosthodontist Finlay Sutton, and senior prosthetics lecturer Mark Bishop, which means he can provide cutting edge, well fitting dentures and implant retained dentures.

When he’s not fixing smiles you can find Cheng carving up fresh snow across Europe on his snowboard or pointing his mountain bike down an alpine mountain. He is a keen photographer and also loves interior design, having helped design and construct the new practice in 2019.
